Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

You already have! Showing up for yourself is a great first step. Please fill out the contact form and we will reach out to you. We will schedule an initial intake first and together we will discuss your needs and goals. After intake, we will reach out to you to let you know if we believe we can assist you with your goals or will recommend a referral.

What happens during intake?

When we schedule your first intake session, we will also send you client forms to fill out which will include what brought you to Think Well Therapy and what your current challenges are. During this time, please feel free to ask your therapist any questions or concerns you may have. Intake is for us to get to know each other and see how we could potentially work together.

In what case would my therapist refer me to another therapist?

If we believe that we would be unable to assist you with your current challenges as it could be out of our scope of practice, we will do our best to refer you to a provider who will be better suited for your needs. Also if we believe that our delivery of practice and approach isn’t appropriate for your needs we will also refer you to somone we believe would better serve you. It is important to us that we proceed ethically and work in the best interest of our client.

How often will I need to see a therapist?

Clients typically see a therapist weekly or bi-weekly. Based on your current challenges and support needs, you can discuss this with your therapist at intake and as you continue treatment.

Since it's telehealth, can I have my sessions from any location?

Therapists licensed in Virginia may only treat and work with clients living and physically located in Virginia at the time of the session. Clients must be physically in Virginia and we ask that you have your session in your home for both safety and privacy.
